New Delhi, Nov 23 (NationPress) The Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, presided over a crucial meeting on Sunday to evaluate the plans for the upcoming 75th Constitution Day festivities scheduled for November 26, according to an official report.
During the meeting, the Speaker engaged with senior representatives from the Delhi Police, Public Works Department, Horticulture Department, and officials from the Assembly Secretariat.
Constitution Day serves as a vital reminder of the country’s democratic principles, and the Speaker emphasized the importance of seamless collaboration among departments to guarantee a respectful and well-coordinated event.
As preparations come to a close, the Delhi Assembly is poised to deliver a remarkable and orderly celebration, as stated by the Speaker.
This year, the Assembly will observe Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) on November 26, commemorating the historic adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly on this date in 1949.
A significant aspect of the celebration will be the launch of a specially designed Coffee Table Book by Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan. This book marks the centennial of Vithalbhai Patel becoming the first Indian elected Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly on August 24, 1925.
The book features rare archival images, essential documents, and selected excerpts from his speeches and writings, alongside highlights from the All India Speakers' Conference and messages from notable figures.
Containing curated archival content on the development of India’s legislative bodies and illustrations of the contemporary Parliament, this book pays homage to Vithalbhai Patel's lasting legacy and India's democratic progress.
The event will also include the presence of Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Additionally, Deputy Speaker of Delhi Assembly Mohan Singh Bisht, Delhi Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, and Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma will also be featured on the dais.
The program will be overseen by Speaker Vijender Gupta.
In alignment with the national observance, a three-minute short film produced by the Union government for the 75th Constitution Day will also be showcased.
