Kolkata, May 7 (NationPress) The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) announced the results of the higher secondary examination on Wednesday. This year, the overall pass percentage has risen to 90.79%, an improvement from 90% in the previous year.
Notably, male students outperformed female students in terms of pass rates, with 92.3% of boys successfully qualifying, compared to 88.12% of girls.
On a district level, East Midnapore recorded the highest pass percentage at 95.74%, followed by North 24 Parganas with 93.53% and Kolkata at 93.43%.
The science stream achieved a remarkable pass percentage of 99.45%, while commerce and arts streams followed with 97.52% and 88.25%, respectively.
The results were released exactly 50 days after the last examination date, with mark-sheets being distributed by schools on Thursday. The exams took place from March 3 to March 18.
A total of 72 students made it to the top 10 list, with Rupayan Paul from East Burdwan, Tushar Debnath from Cooch Behar, and Rajarshi Adhikari from Hooghly sharing the top position.
Among the female candidates, Srijita Ghosal from Bankura emerged fourth overall. The highest representation in the top 10 list comes from Hooghly district, which has 14 candidates.
