Hindon, Oct 8 (NationPress) The 93rd Indian Air Force Day was commemorated at the Hindon Air Force Station on Wednesday, paying homage to the courage and commitment of the personnel in blue who protect the nation's airspace.

This year’s observance included a special homage to Operation Sindoor, a landmark event in the IAF's history.

The Indian Air Force (IAF), which serves as the air component of the Indian Armed Forces, was officially formed on October 8, 1932, as an auxiliary air force of British India.

Its main goal is to defend Indian airspace and engage in aerial combat during conflicts. Over the years, it has developed into one of the most formidable aerial forces globally.

Notable attendees at the Hindon Airbase included Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi.

During the celebrations, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh reviewed a ceremonial parade honoring the defenders of India’s skies and their valor during Operation Sindoor.

The Air Force's rapid deployment abilities were prominently showcased during the operation, executed in May 2025 as part of India’s military response following the Pahalgam attack.

Air warriors conducted an impressive march past alongside fighter jets displayed on the tarmac, captivating onlookers with the might and precision of India’s aerial capabilities.

In his Special Order of the Day, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh stated, "As we reflect on this occasion, we honor the courage, commitment, and steadfast spirit of the Indian Air Force in protecting our nation's skies."

"The global landscape is undergoing a significant geopolitical transformation, and recent disputes have highlighted the crucial role of air power in fulfilling national objectives. Through Operation Sindoor, we have reaffirmed the centrality of air power in influencing military results," he added.

Initiated on May 7, 2025, Operation Sindoor was a precision, intelligence-driven retaliatory strike executed by the Indian armed forces in response to the Pahalgam attack.

This operation targeted nine verified terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and further inside Pakistan.

The IAF executed synchronized strikes on critical installations, including the Nur Khan and Rahimyar Khan air bases, employing advanced indigenous assets and utilizing the Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS) for real-time, multi-domain coordination, underscoring India's growing technological and strategic prowess in contemporary warfare.
