New Delhi, July 3 (NationPress) In June 2025, holders of Aadhaar numbers executed a staggering 229.33 crore authentication transactions, surpassing both the previous month and the same month in the prior financial year. This surge highlights the widespread adoption and significance of Aadhaar, underlining the ongoing growth of the digital economy in India, as stated in an official announcement released on Thursday.
This increase brings the total number of such transactions to over 15,452 crore since the launch of Aadhaar. The authentication transactions in June 2025 reflect an increase of nearly 7.8 per cent compared to June 2024, according to the Ministry of IT & Electronics.
The rising number of transactions showcases Aadhaar's role as an enabler for efficient welfare distribution, allowing individuals to access a variety of services from providers. It serves as a significant driver for enhancing the quality of life for countless citizens, the statement noted.
The AI/ML-based Aadhaar Face Authentication solutions, developed internally by UIDAI, have shown consistent growth. In June 2025, a record-breaking 15.87 crore face authentication transactions were logged, compared to just 4.61 crore transactions in the same month the previous year.
To date, nearly 175 crore face authentication transactions have been conducted, indicating the increasing acceptance of this method and its benefits for Aadhaar holders, the statement added.
This AI-driven face authentication system is compatible with both Android and iOS platforms, enabling users to verify their identity effortlessly through a facial scan, all while maintaining high security standards.
More than 100 organizations, including government ministries and departments, financial institutions, and telecom service providers, are implementing face authentication to ensure seamless delivery of benefits and services.
Additionally, in June, over 39.47 crore e-KYC transactions were conducted. The Aadhaar e-KYC service continues to be instrumental in enhancing customer experiences and facilitating smoother business operations across banking and non-banking financial sectors, the statement concluded.
