New Delhi, May 15 (NationPress) Delhi Lt Governor V.K. Saxena criticized the narrow-minded politics of the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration for the delays and obstacles encountered in delivering piped cooking gas services to the rural residents of the national capital. “I have no hesitation in stating that the prior government lacked the willpower and did not want to extend new facilities to villages, likely due to their political agenda,” L-G Saxena remarked while addressing residents of 111 villages that received piped gas on Thursday.
He emphasized that facilities will not reach residents if a government does not fulfill its responsibilities. “Development occurs only when the government demonstrates intention and desire,” remarked Saxena, commending the BJP-led government under Rekha Gupta for initiating a ‘Spring of Development’ in the capital through comprehensive development initiatives.
Saxena noted that previously, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) awaited over a year-and-a-half to obtain no-objection certificates to lay gas pipelines in villages. “I had to warn all Delhi departments that a delay exceeding one month would result in penalties,” he said, highlighting the obstacles in extending piped cooking gas to rural areas.
The L-G expressed satisfaction at witnessing the happiness on the faces of women who received symbolic piped gas connection certificates during an event in Dwarka on Thursday.
Earlier, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta criticized the former AAP government, claiming some of its MLAs obstructed the expansion of piped gas services in villages despite the efforts of BJP MPs. “Our party’s MPs worked diligently to bring piped gas to village homes, but AAP legislators created problems and questioned the necessity,” she stated.
CM Gupta also expressed gratitude towards the L-G for diligently pursuing the piped gas project, which has now connected 130 villages in the first phase, with an additional 111 villages receiving the service on Thursday.
