New Delhi, May 7 (NationPress) In response to Operation Sindoor, a coordinated military initiative targeting nine significant terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the Central Government has organized an all-party assembly on Thursday at 11 a.m. This meeting aims to update the nation's political leaders regarding the strategic military actions.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju announced this on Wednesday and shared on X, "The government has summoned an All Party leaders meeting on May 8, 2025, at 11 am, in Committee Room: G-074, located at the Parliament Library Building, Parliament Complex in New Delhi."
Earlier that day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to provide her with an official briefing about the operation.
The precise strikes were executed during the early hours of Wednesday and lasted only 25 minutes. Between 1:05 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., 24 missiles were launched to hit nine terrorist facilities, such as the Lashkar-e-Taiba headquarters in Muridke and key training centers in Bahawalpur, which have long been viewed as hotspots for extremist activities.
India clarified that this action was not aimed at escalation but was a calculated and measured response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, including a Nepali national.
"Our actions have been deliberate, calibrated, and non-escalatory. No Pakistani military infrastructure was targeted. India has shown significant restraint in choosing targets and methods," the government stated.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reiterated that India's aim was to dismantle terrorist networks while minimizing civilian casualties and avoiding broader conflicts.
"Operation Sindoor was a justified and responsible reaction to Pakistan's relentless support for terrorism," he stated, emphasizing that Pakistan has continued its trend of denial and evasion rather than addressing the culprits behind the Pahalgam massacre.
"This government has fulfilled its commitment—those accountable will be brought to justice," the statement concluded, highlighting India's resolve to respond to any future cross-border terrorism.
Political leaders from various parties have voiced strong support for the Indian armed forces following the operation's successful execution.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, commended the military's precision and bravery, stating on X, "Proud of our Armed Forces. Jai Hind!"
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge echoed similar sentiments, remarking, "India has an unwavering National Policy against all forms of terrorism originating from Pakistan and PoK. We take immense pride in our Indian Armed Forces, who have targeted terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. We commend their unwavering determination and bravery."
Kharge affirmed that the Congress party has consistently supported the government since the April 22 terror attack.
"Since the Pahalgam Terror Attack, the Indian National Congress has unequivocally supported the Armed Forces and the Government in taking decisive actions against cross-border terrorism," he stated.
Calling for national unity, he concluded, "National unity and solidarity are essential at this time, and the Indian National Congress stands with our Armed Forces. Our leaders have led the way in the past, and the National Interest remains paramount for us."
