Ahmedabad, April 16 (NationPress) The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Crime and Railways has confiscated narcotics and alcohol valued at Rs 16.51 lakh from a residential unit in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, resulting in the apprehension of one suspect, officials reported on Thursday.
The operation took place at a flat within the Aarohi Viviana apartments located in the Bopal area, following precise intelligence.
Under the guidance of senior officials, a team from the ANTF's Ahmedabad Zone executed a raid at the site, where the individual was discovered with drugs believed to be destined for distribution.
During the search, authorities seized 102.59 grams of methamphetamine, 46.64 grams of hybrid marijuana, and 8.88 grams of cocaine.
In addition, six bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor, 24 beer cans, and four mobile devices were confiscated from the premises.
The total estimated worth of the confiscated contraband and other items stands at Rs 18.01 lakh, according to police reports.
The suspect, identified as Nishant Solanki (42), a resident of the same apartment complex originally from Rajkot, was arrested at the location.
Authorities indicated that he was found with the illicit substances during the raid.
Four additional suspects—named as Rick, Sandra, Ghost, and Ajay Patel—have also been implicated in the case and are currently at large.
Investigators are actively working to locate them.
A case has been filed under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, alongside provisions of the Prohibition Act.
"This operation was initiated based on reliable intelligence, and the suspect was caught with multiple narcotic substances," an official stated.
Further inquiries have been transferred to the Bopal Police Station in Ahmedabad Rural, which will investigate the origin of the drugs and any broader network associated with the incident.
This seizure is part of a comprehensive crackdown on narcotics and illegal alcohol in Gujarat.
In March, authorities confiscated approximately 0.7 kg of hybrid ganja worth over Rs 26 lakh from a flat in GIFT City, Gandhinagar, leading to another arrest.
Previously, enforcement agencies informed the State Assembly that in Ahmedabad alone, Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 10.71 crore and drugs valued at Rs 3.87 crore were seized, while in Surat, IMFL valued at Rs 6.63 crore and narcotics worth Rs 13.29 crore were recovered.
A total of 24,793 people have been arrested in connection with liquor and drug-related crimes, with 316 suspects still evading capture, according to the latest data.
