Chennai, June 11 (NationPress) Two prominent AIADMK officials have been apprehended under the Goondas Act following their involvement in a recent pub altercation in Nungambakkam. This comes amidst a flurry of job fraud allegations that emerged post-arrest.

The individuals detained are D. Ajayrogan (36), known as Ajay Vandayar, a businessman, and T. Prasad (33), an IT wing member of the AIADMK.

They were part of a group of five individuals arrested for participating in a violent incident at a pub in Nungambakkam weeks ago.

Others taken into custody for the pub brawl include R. Ganesh Kumar (42) from Virugambakkam, G. Dhanasekar (29) from Chinna Porur in Vadapalani, and Nagendra Sethupathi, also known as 'Tsunami' Sethupathi (33), a notorious figure from Paramakudi.

Following the arrests, numerous complaints emerged from victims alleging they were swindled under the pretense of job opportunities, purportedly linked to Prasad and his network.

The police have initiated an extensive investigation revealing that members of the law enforcement were implicated in facilitating the fraudulent activities.

A Sub-Inspector and a Head Constable have been arrested for allegedly assisting Prasad in executing the job fraud.

The arrested officers are identified as Senthil Kumar (44), a head constable serving as personal security for a seated Member of Parliament, and Sub-Inspector Manikumar.

In a related case, authorities have also enforced the Goondas Act against another suspect, Daniel, who faces severe charges, including the kidnapping of a film assistant director associated with filmmaker Suseenthiran, as well as a separate sexual assault case.

Daniel was among seven individuals detained on May 29 in relation to the kidnapping that transpired in Arumbakkam.

Police sources indicated that Daniel possesses a history of criminal conduct, necessitating action under the stringent Goondas Act.

Officials stated that these detentions are part of a larger initiative to combat habitual offenders and sustain public order within the city.

The enforcement of the Goondas Act permits preventive detention for as long as one year without the possibility of bail, aimed at detaining habitual and dangerous criminals.

The investigations into the job fraud and the pub brawl incident are currently ongoing, and further arrests and charges may arise based on the evidence collected.

Point of View

I emphasize the importance of transparency and accountability in governance. The involvement of law enforcement in facilitating fraud raises significant concerns about corruption and public trust. This case illustrates the need for rigorous oversight to ensure the safety and integrity of our institutions.
