New Delhi, Dec 7 (NationPress) Air India and Air India Express have announced that they are currently working to adhere to the recent airfare cap guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Since December 4, both airlines have actively limited economy-class fares on direct domestic flights to counteract the typical demand-supply fluctuations that automated revenue management systems often impose.
“Due to the significant disruptions travelers across India are facing at this time, Air India and Air India Express are implementing a range of proactive initiatives to assist those stranded in reaching their destinations,” stated the airlines.
In an effort to enhance flexibility, these airlines have rolled out a special waiver for change or cancellation fees on qualifying domestic reservations.
“This allows passengers who booked flights with either airline prior to December 4, for travel up to December 15, to modify their bookings to a later date without incurring the usual rescheduling fee (as long as it remains within the ticket validity) or to cancel their reservations and receive a full refund (with no cancellation fee),” they explained.
This one-time waiver is valid for any changes or cancellations made until December 8.
“Any fare difference, if applicable, will be subject to rescheduling,” they noted.
Passengers wishing to utilize the one-time waiver for rescheduling or cancellation can do so via the 24/7 contact centers of either airline or through global travel agents. To manage the high volume of calls and reduce response times, Air India and Air India Express have allocated additional resources to their contact centers.
The airlines are also maximizing seat availability on all flights within their extensive network.
“Wherever operationally feasible, eligible Economy Class travelers will be upgraded to higher cabins at no extra charge to ensure that every available seat is utilized to aid stranded passengers. Additionally, both airlines are launching extra flights on key routes to facilitate the swift transport of travelers and their baggage to their intended destinations,” stated the airlines.
Moreover, special discounted fares and benefits are available on their websites and mobile applications for students, senior citizens, armed forces members, and their families.
