Bengaluru, March 19 (NationPress) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, Sunil Ambekar, asserted during a press conference on Wednesday that Mughal emperor Aurangzeb has lost his relevance in today's context.
This remark came as he addressed media regarding the upcoming Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha of the RSS, scheduled from March 21 to 23.
In response to inquiries about the recent violence in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Ambekar stated, "Any form of violence is detrimental to societal health. The police are aware of the incident and will handle it accordingly."
When questioned about Aurangzeb's relevance today and whether his tomb should be relocated, the RSS leader remarked, "I believe he is not relevant."
These comments are significant as Ambekar is a prominent figure within the RSS, and there are ongoing discussions among Hindutva supporters in Maharashtra regarding relocating Aurangzeb's tomb amidst the violence related to this topic.
Regarding a statement made against the RSS by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Ambekar clarified that the RSS's focus is on fostering peaceful nation-building.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah alleged on the Assembly floor that the RSS incites violence.
"I have not seen the video of CM Siddaramaiah's statement. However, our Swayamsevaks are dedicated to building this country peacefully. This commitment has been in place since inception. We are engaged in our mission," Ambekar stated.
When asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's planned visit to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on March 30, he noted that past Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had also visited the headquarters, indicating no special significance should be attached to it.
On the upcoming Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, Ambekar shared, "Discussions will revolve around five critical transformations, and two resolutions will be passed. The first will tackle issues concerning Bangladesh, while the second will reflect on the RSS's hundred-year history and future direction."
"Everyone is aware of the atrocities faced by Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. Previously, the RSS has condemned such events and participated in protests. We are committed to ensuring the security and dignity of Hindus globally, whether in Bangladesh or elsewhere. This is our primary concern. We will deliberate on how to express this and what actions should follow," he explained.
"The second resolution will address the RSS’s centennial journey. This year marks 100 years of the RSS, which has seen numerous milestones and significant involvement from RSS volunteers in various social and political events related to national security and integrity. Swayamsevaks have actively participated and initiated many activities. Discussing our future is equally important," the RSS leader emphasized.
Ambekar also announced, "The Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha will take place from March 21 to 23 in Channenahalli, Bengaluru. This gathering is pivotal as it will outline the highest policy decisions of the RSS. The agenda includes a thorough review of the organization's activities and comprehensive discussions on future strategies."
RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, along with Sarkaryavah (General Secretary) Dattatreya Hosabale and other senior officials, are expected to participate in the meeting, Ambekar mentioned.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President J.P. Nadda will also be present at the event, he added.
Ambekar concluded that RSS Chief Bhagwat will attend all sessions of the meeting, which will continue until March 23. The RSS will celebrate its centenary on Vijayadashami this year.
After a four-year hiatus, the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha is returning to Bengaluru, marking a significant moment in the organization's history.
During the meeting, RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale will present the 2024-25 report, while the centenary celebrations of the RSS will focus on engaging all societal segments.
