Kolkata, Sep 29 (NationPress) As the vibrant Durga Puja festival kicks off in West Bengal on Monday, the BJP's top state leadership, particularly the state president Samik Bhattacharya, is engaged in two significant organizational tasks.
The first task involves finalizing the formation of a new state committee, while the second focuses on devising an initial strategy to counter the Trinamool Congress’s ongoing state-wide campaigns regarding the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) special intensive revision (SIR) and the purported harassment of Bengali-speaking individuals in BJP-governed states.
“The central leadership has instructed the state leadership to swiftly complete the formation of the new state committee and announce it right after the festive season, ideally in the interim between the end of Durga Puja this week and Diwali on October 18. This will enable the new committee to commence preparations for the critical next year by month-end. Thus, top state leaders, including the state president, are finalizing the list,” shared a BJP state committee member who chose to remain anonymous.
Furthermore, he mentioned that since the Trinamool Congress has already initiated its extensive campaign on both the special intensive revision and allegations of Bengali harassment, the BJP’s central leadership deemed it essential to begin a comprehensive counter-narrative promptly.
“While our state leaders have issued clarifications over time regarding both issues, there is a pressing need to launch a robust grassroots counter-narrative campaign. Therefore, our state leaders are also busy finalizing the blueprint for this initiative,” the committee member added.
Historically, the Trinamool Congress has labeled the special intensive revision as a tactic to enforce the NRC in the state. Conversely, the BJP argues that the ruling party's position serves to protect illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators who have managed to appear on the voter list in West Bengal.
In countering the Trinamool Congress narrative concerning Bengali harassment in BJP-controlled regions, the BJP plans to emphasize how the current regime's industrial stagnation has compelled countless Bengali-speaking workers to migrate to other states in search of better opportunities.
