Amaravati, Nov 10 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday urged officials to develop a comprehensive action plan focused on the enhancement of the Visakha economic region, which spans from Srikakulam to Konaseema.
He emphasized the need for tailored policies that would attract investments into the Visakha economic region.
During a review meeting held at the Secretariat concerning the Visakha economic region, the Chief Minister aimed to position this area as a pivotal growth hub for the entire state.
According to an official release, the Visakha economic region is projected to attract investments ranging between $100 to 115 billion, which includes $15 billion from central government initiatives and $85 billion from private sector contributions.
He pointed out that enhancing cargo handling from Mulapet port in Srikakulam to Kakinada port should be a priority, as these ports are crucial for cargo operations serving Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Additionally, he proposed the coastline be developed into an East-West coastal corridor.
Moreover, there should be a significant emphasis on establishing green energy projects within the economic zone, as Visakhapatnam is set to emerge as a global IT hub with the introduction of the Next Gen AI data centre by Google. The Chief Minister also mentioned that Visakhapatnam should evolve into a health care center, promoting medical tourism, while also addressing the rising housing demands.
Officials recommended the formation of a Visakha economic region authority to oversee development.
Simultaneously, the state government unveiled the agenda for the upcoming CII Partnership Summit, to be held in Visakhapatnam on November 14-15, themed 'Technology, Trust and Trade: Navigating the New Geoeconomic Order'.
The government stated that 410 MoUs amounting to Rs 9.8 lakh crore will be signed during the summit.
Chief Minister Naidu, along with Central ministers Nirmala Sitharaman (Finance), Piyush Goyal (Commerce and Industry), and Ashwini Vaishnaw (Railways, Electronics and IT), will address the summit.
