Guwahati, Jan 16 (NationPress) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to visit Morigaon district on Thursday to assess the advancements of the semiconductor manufacturing plant being established there, which is anticipated to create numerous job opportunities within the state.
In a post on X, CM Sarma stated, “I will soon arrive in Morigaon to lead the inaugural outstation #AssamCabinet meeting of 2025. We will also evaluate the progress of the Tata Semiconductor facility.”
Previously, the Chief Minister remarked, “The northeastern region has garnered significant focus from the Central government in recent years. At the start of this year, three new trains were inaugurated by the Union Railway Minister, which is expected to boost the state's overall development.”
He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been committed to realizing a developed India by 2047, fueled by technological innovation and progress, and has consistently inspired the youth to aspire for a prosperous future.
CM Sarma underscored the ongoing initiatives in India, such as the formation of the semiconductor industry, and the advancement of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, blockchain technology, among others, which are essential for India to take a forefront position in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
He indicated that the semiconductor facilities in Gujarat and Assam, along with forthcoming projects in quantum physics and artificial intelligence, will be developed in India.
He emphasized that India would supply the skilled workforce required in these sectors, catering not just to national needs but also to global demands.
“To prepare for this, I urge the necessity to equip India’s youth with essential skills. The semiconductor initiative at Jagiroad is advancing swiftly, with production anticipated to commence by the end of the year,” he noted.
CM Sarma stressed the critical nature of a skilled workforce for these projects, highlighting that the recently inaugurated National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), now recognized as a deemed university, will be instrumental in cultivating this talent. He remarked that Assam's educated youth are already making substantial contributions to the IT sectors in states like Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
The CM further reiterated that the Prime Minister's vision encompasses the establishment of high-quality institutions in Assam for semiconductor manufacturing, quantum physics, and artificial intelligence.
