New Delhi, Feb 27 (NationPress) More than eight lakh devotees have gained from Ayush mobile units, OPDs, and yoga sessions at the recently concluded Mahakumbh 2025, according to the Central government on Thursday.
To safeguard the health and well-being of millions of attendees, the Ministry of Ayush established extensive healthcare services, including 20 Ayush OPDs, various mobile health units, over 90 doctors, and 150 healthcare workers.
Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Nodal Officer for Ayush at the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, stated, "The Ministry has effectively addressed the healthcare requirements of over eight lakh devotees, signifying the increasing confidence in traditional Indian medicine."
He added that devotees also participated in therapeutic yoga sessions organized by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), which fostered both physical and mental wellness.
To facilitate uninterrupted healthcare access, three Ayush Convention Halls were established in Sector-2, Sector-21, and Sector-24, where daily yoga and wellness sessions informed pilgrims about preventive healthcare, disease management, and holistic lifestyles.
The Ministry also implemented dedicated health screenings in major Akharas, including Juna, Anand, Niranjani, and Vaishnav Akharas.
Moreover, mobile Ayush health units distributed medicines across the Mela area, while various teams operated from canopies at diverse Ayush facilities to provide critical health check-ups to devotees.
Additionally, the All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) initiated a special program, distributing 10,000 Ayush Raksha kits containing essential Ayurvedic medicines and wellness products.
A week-long health camp benefited 15,000 pilgrims, as reported by the Ministry.
During this grand event, the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) handed out over 25,000 medicinal plants—such as tulsi, ashwagandha, shatavari, neem, amla, and curry leaf—to devotees, promoting natural healing and highlighting the significance of medicinal plants in everyday life.
More than 4 million pilgrims attended the Mahakumbh 2025.
On Maha Shivratri alone, over 25.64 lakh devotees participated in the holy dip, raising the total number of pilgrims who have bathed in the river to an incredible 64.77 crore.
