How Are Residents of Bagaha, Bihar Benefiting from Jan Aushadhi Kendra?

Bagaha (Bihar), May 15 (NationPress) In the quaint town of Bagaha, Bihar, the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), a flagship program initiated by the Narendra Modi-led government, is rapidly transforming into a critical support system for its residents. Locals are celebrating this initiative as a significant achievement, marking a landmark moment in India’s healthcare landscape.

The Jan Aushadhi Kendras, designed to offer high-quality generic medications at affordable rates, have provided essential relief to those from underprivileged backgrounds. Recipients express that the accessibility of inexpensive yet effective medications has greatly enhanced their healthcare options.

In conversations with beneficiaries, many shared how this initiative has positively impacted their lives.

Abhishek Kumar, a frequent visitor to the Kendra, expressed gratitude, stating, “Quality medicines are available at incredibly low prices. This is a true blessing for the underprivileged. The Kendra provides nearly every essential medication. Although primarily utilized by the less fortunate, I believe everyone should benefit from this service. I am thankful to the Modi administration and hope such Kendras open in every neighborhood, village, and town to ensure that no one misses out on affordable treatments.”

Another beneficiary, Subhrantudhar Mishra, highlighted the utility of the Kendra, situated inside Bagaha’s Sub-Divisional Hospital.

“The medications here are effective. The only issue is occasional supply delays. If the medicines arrive on time, this program could be a total game-changer for the average person. Many medications are priced at about 20% of the market rate. For individuals facing financial challenges, this is genuinely a godsend,” he remarked, extending his thanks to the central government.

Shailesh Tiwari, another local resident, shared his experience: “This initiative has been extremely beneficial. I acquire medications for blood pressure and acidity here at a fraction of the usual cost. Those who know about the Jan Aushadhi Kendra are reaping its benefits. It's a fantastic initiative for the disadvantaged and deserves even more recognition. It is undoubtedly one of the most impactful programs of the Modi government.”

Arun Kumar Dwivedi, the Kendra’s operator, emphasized the significance and popularity of the program.

“Medicines that retail for Rs 125 are available here for just Rs 12. Approximately 250 to 300 individuals benefit from the Kendra daily. While the scheme is functioning well, Bihar still needs more distribution centers. We experience delays since supplies come from Delhi, taking four to five days to arrive. With the opening of more Kendras and improved supply chains, this program will be even more advantageous,” he stated.

The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana was launched in November 2008 by the Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. Its goal is to ensure that quality generic medicines are accessible to all through dedicated outlets known as Jan Aushadhi Kendras.

To further promote the use of generic medicines, March 7 is celebrated annually as 'Jan Aushadhi Diwas'. This year, a week-long campaign was conducted from March 1 to 7, featuring events nationwide aimed at raising awareness and encouraging the public to utilize these Kendras.
