Patna, Nov 29 (NationPress) Following the tragic shooting of a woman in Nawada district, Bihar, her husband was seized by police on Saturday, just 12 hours after the crime occurred.
A specialized team was formed under the direction of Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinav Dhiman, who acted quickly to apprehend the suspect.
The incident transpired on November 28 at approximately 3 p.m. in Purani Hardiya village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Rajauli police station.
Upon receiving a report, law enforcement arrived promptly at the scene and interviewed local inhabitants.
The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also examined the site, gathering vital evidence.
Rajauli SDPO Gulshan Kumar visited the area and issued essential directives.
Kumar disclosed that Gopal Mishra, the husband of the victim, was arrested along with a homemade firearm, two live cartridges, and one spent bullet found in his possession.
During questioning, the victim’s son claimed that his father perpetrated the crime over a family disagreement, highlighting his father’s aggressive behavior.
“He shot my mother at close range using a firearm on Friday and fled the scene,” stated the son in his report to police.
The body of the woman was subsequently transported to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination, where a bullet was recovered from her body.
Based on a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s son, a murder case was filed against the accused under relevant legal sections at the Rajauli police station (Case No. 631/25).
“In light of the gravity of the situation, a special team was established under the guidance of the Rajauli SDPO. The team acted swiftly, detaining the primary suspect within 12 hours. During interrogation, the accused admitted to the crime. Following his instructions, a homemade firearm, two live cartridges, and one spent bullet, utilized in the act, were retrieved from him. After completing the interrogation, the accused was placed in judicial custody,” Kumar stated.
