Patna, Feb 13 (NationPress) The government of Bihar, under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, has given the green light to 11,251 rural roads through the Rural Works Department, spanning a total distance of 19,867 km, during a Cabinet meeting held on Thursday.

The overall investment for these initiatives is projected at ₹17,266 crore, aimed at the sustainable management and upkeep of worn-out roads across all 38 districts for the next seven years.

Most of these road development initiatives were unveiled during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Pragati Yatra, which focuses on building new roads and refurbishing existing ones.

Currently, Nitish Kumar is actively engaged in the Pragati Yatra, visiting one district daily.

During the Cabinet meeting, a total of 37 proposals from the Rural Works Department were endorsed, all pertaining to rural road construction.

Additionally, numerous proposals from various departments, including education, health, agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, urban development, infrastructure enhancement, and public welfare projects, were also approved.

The state Cabinet has sanctioned funds for Samastipur for developmental undertakings, alongside the construction of a new Auditorium and Science Bhawan at Magadh Mahila College in Patna, with an investment of ₹47 crore. Furthermore, a new educational facility will be constructed with ₹61 crore at Rajendra College, Chhapra.

The Cabinet has also given the nod for funding under the School Uniform Initiative by the education department.

This initiative will provide students with financial aid for uniforms before the academic year starts, ensuring they attend school dressed appropriately.

An allocation of ₹61 crore has been made for enhancing water supply infrastructure in Bettiah, along with approvals for the establishment of a new Sub-Registry Office in Saharsa to boost administrative efficiency. The Cabinet also approved domestic assistance regulations for retired Chief Justices of the High Court and extended the tenure of the Superintendent at the State Guest House in Patna for another year.

These decisions signify a major advancement in infrastructure, education, and public welfare in Bihar, as the government strives to improve connectivity and enhance services throughout the state.
