New Delhi, Nov 14 (NationPress) A pivotal day is upon Bihar as the vote counting for the Assembly elections is set to commence on Friday. With meticulous arrangements and stringent protocols in place to guarantee transparency, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is prepared to ensure a seamless and trustworthy counting process throughout the state.

Counting will occur in all 243 Assembly constituencies within Bihar.

As per officials, 243 Returning Officers (ROs) will supervise the counting, supported by 243 Counting Observers, alongside the presence of contesting candidates and their authorized representatives.

A total of 4,372 counting tables have been established, each staffed by a counting supervisor, an assistant, and a micro-observer.

More than 18,000 counting agents appointed by candidates will be on hand to oversee the counting process, ensuring fairness and transparency.

The counting will kick off at 8:00 a.m. with postal ballots, followed by the counting of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at 8:30 a.m.

The ECI has mandated that postal ballot counting be finalized prior to the second-to-last round of EVM counting.

During the EVM counting, Control Units will be available for counting agents to verify the integrity of seals and confirm the serial numbers against those recorded in Form 17C (Part I).

The vote counts from EVMs will be cross-verified with entries from Form 17C, and in the event of any discrepancies, VVPAT slips from the relevant polling station will be counted.

Upon the conclusion of EVM counting, a random sample of five polling stations per constituency will be selected for VVPAT verification.

The slips will be compared with the EVM results in the presence of candidates and their counting agents.

The final results will be compiled and published in rounds and by constituency by the respective ROs.

Official results will be accessible on the ECI’s results portal — https://results.eci.gov.in.

The Commission has urged the public and media to rely solely on the official ECI portal for accurate and verified updates, cautioning against misinformation from unofficial sources.

News outlets and digital platforms have also been advised to maintain accuracy in their reporting.
