New Delhi, Oct 26 (NationPress) RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday delivered a sharp critique of the ruling NDA government in Bihar, declaring that the populace is "exhausted" with the existing administration and is "seeking a transformation".
During a press briefing, Yadav accused the government led by Nitish Kumar of corruption, ineffective governance, and failing to promote industrial and employment advancement in the state.
"The electioneering has commenced, and the mood unmistakably indicates that Bihar is primed for change. The citizens are weary of this khatara (dilapidated) government. Corruption and crime have surged, and there is neither attention nor intervention," Yadav stated.
He criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah, asserting that Shah himself acknowledged the challenges of establishing industries in Bihar due to inadequate land. "Amit Shah remarked that factories cannot be established in Bihar. While Prime Minister Modi develops industries in Gujarat, all Bihar receives is mere promises," Yadav remarked, adding that the government has lavishly invested in investor summits and stadium projects in Gujarat at the expense of Bihar.
Yadav claimed that the NDA's leadership has transformed Bihar into a barren landscape. "When water stagnates for an extended period, it becomes tainted. If seeds are sown in the same field for two decades, it becomes unproductive. Bihar has offered 20 years to the NDA; now the public should grant us 20 months to deliver genuine change," he explained.
He outlined his vision should the Mahagathbandhan return to power, promising various welfare initiatives. Yadav stated that representatives from the three-tier Panchayat system and Gram Kachahri members would receive pensions, and village court officials would be insured for up to Rs 50 lakh. Additionally, the government plans to enhance financial support under the 'Jan Vitran Pranali' scheme and increase the compensation rate per quintal.
"Panchayat and Gram Kachahari representatives have long sought pension benefits. We have resolved to provide them with pensions, alongside a Rs 50 lakh insurance cover. We will also raise the margins for those involved in the public distribution system," Yadav declared.
The RJD leader further mentioned that his party has engaged with local artisans, including carpenters, barbers, and potters, to introduce specialized financial assistance programs. "We will extend up to Rs 5 lakh in financial aid to help small craftsmen acquire their toolkits and commence their enterprises," he added.
He reiterated his previous commitments to regularizing contractual employees, recalling that during his brief 17-month tenure as Deputy CM, his administration achieved milestones that others could not in 17 years. "Had Chacha ji (Nitish Kumar) not changed affiliations, all pending work would have been resolved," he noted.
Wrapping up the press conference, Yadav confirmed ongoing discussions with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, indicating that the joint manifesto of the Mahagathbandhan will be unveiled soon. "We will convene and outline our vision for the people of Bihar shortly," he said.
Bihar is set to cast its votes on November 6 and November 11, with results expected on November 14.
