Jamui (Bihar), May 24 (NationPress) Farmers in the Jamui district of Bihar have voiced their contentment and appreciation towards the Central Government’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, highlighting the substantial advantages it offers in managing agricultural expenses without resorting to external borrowing.
The PM-KISAN scheme, which was initiated in 2019, extends direct financial support of Rs 6,000 annually to qualifying small and marginal farmers. This amount is distributed in three equal payments of Rs 2,000 every four months, directly credited to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
Local farmer Harendra Narayan Singh reported that the scheme has been incredibly beneficial.
“We utilize the instalment to purchase fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides. In the past, we had to rely on moneylenders, but now there’s no need to borrow. This has brought immense relief,” he stated during an interview.
Farmers in the area remarked that, previously, accessing essential farming supplies was challenging.
