Patna, June 11 (NationPress) In a pivotal ruling, a court in Bihar’s Motihari has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the murder of a teenage boy on Wednesday.
The 10th Additional District and Sessions Judge of Motihari, Brijesh Kumar, delivered the sentence to Idu Ali alias Saif regarding the murder case of the minor boy, Sameer Alam.
According to Deepak Patel, the Additional Public Prosecutor, “Idu Ali was found guilty of murder. Additionally, the court levied a fine of Rs 30,000, with a further six-month imprisonment if the fine is not paid. Another accused, Bhanu Singh, was acquitted due to insufficient evidence.”
The case originated from FIR No. 45/2024, filed at the Harsiddhi Police Station by Noor Salina Khatoon, the mother of the deceased.
She accused Idu Ali alias Saif, Nagendra Manjhi, and Bhanu Singh of abducting and subsequently murdering her son, Sameer Alam, on the evening of January 28, 2024.
As stated in the FIR, Sameer was lured away from his home by the suspects and did not return.
His lifeless body was discovered the next morning in a bush near Dariyapur village under the Harsiddhi police station.
Police apprehended Idu Ali two days later, and during questioning, he admitted to the crime.
Old animosities and a romantic involvement were cited as the motives behind the murder.
Following a swift investigation, police submitted a charge sheet against Idu Ali and Bhanu Singh within a month, while investigations into Nagendra Manjhi’s involvement continue.
During the trial (Sessions Case No. 619/2024), Additional Public Prosecutor Deepak Patel and Assistant Advocate Mohd Shahabuddin presented six witnesses, successfully proving the prosecution's case against Idu Ali.
In a judicial process concluding within 17 months of the incident, the court found Idu Ali guilty under relevant sections 302, 201, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and issued the verdict.
This ruling brings partial closure to the grieving family and highlights the court’s commitment to delivering timely justice in serious offenses.
