Patna, Oct 3 (NationPress) Bihar's Rural Works Minister Ashok Choudhary on Friday rejected the corruption accusations made against him by Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraaj, asserting that mere allegations do not constitute guilt.
While speaking to reporters in Patna, he stated, "If anyone can demonstrate that I possess even one dhur of land, I am willing to become that person's servant. My assets are publicly accessible, and anyone can confirm it."
He further remarked, "If someone were to claim that I am in cahoots with Donald Trump, would that be believable? Let anyone establish that my family or I own even one dhur of land or property valued at Rs 1 crore. No political career has ever been jeopardized solely due to accusations, and mine will not be either."
The minister reflected on his extensive political experience, stating, "I have been involved in politics since my student days. I held the position of Congress state president for over four years and have distributed tickets. In 2020, I was the executive president of JD(U). Those who believe they can end my career with just accusations are mistaken. I will persist in Bihar politics, and no one can hinder my path."
Regarding the defamation lawsuit he initiated against Prashant Kishor, Minister Choudhary noted that he has received Kishor's response, and his legal team is currently reviewing it.
On September 23, Ashok Choudhary filed a Rs 100 crore defamation notice against Kishor.
The minister demanded an unconditional written and public apology from Kishor within a week; otherwise, he threatened to pursue criminal proceedings and a civil suit for damages.
In his response, Kishor, on September 29, accused Ashok Choudhary of illegally acquiring assets worth Rs 200 crore and receiving substantial commissions on government contracts.
Kishor asserted that he possesses documentary evidence of Ashok Choudhary's alleged disproportionate wealth and insisted that the minister retract the legal defamation notice of Rs 100 crore and publicly apologize within seven days, failing which he would escalate the matter to the Governor and the courts.
