Patna, Jan 10 (NationPress) A 25-year-old man, who had been unaccounted for since January 9, was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances in a wheat field in Mohanpur village, located in the Katiya police station jurisdiction of Gopalganj district, Bihar, on Saturday.
The deceased has been recognized as Anil Kushwaha, a local resident of Mohanpur village.
His lifeless body was located in a wheat field situated a short distance from the village. Upon discovery, a large crowd of villagers quickly gathered at the scene.
Family members have claimed that Anil was entangled in a romantic relationship with a girl from the same locality.
They alleged that the girl summoned Anil, leading her family members to reportedly assault him and subsequently abandon his body in the field.
In the aftermath of this incident, outraged relatives and locals organized a protest, demanding swift action from authorities.
During the unrest, police apprehended two suspects. However, the crowd attempted to liberate the accused from police custody, prompting law enforcement to secure them within a nearby house. The crowd then encircled the residence, escalating tensions.
Police officials later managed to calm the situation and safely transported the suspects to the police station for further questioning.
Officers from Katiya police station promptly arrived at the scene to commence an investigation. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) also conducted an examination of the crime scene.
Hathua SDPO Anand Mohan Gupta, accompanied by police teams from various stations, arrived at the location and convinced the villagers to allow the body to be transferred to the model hospital for post-mortem examination.
Authorities have detained two individuals in connection with this case and are currently interrogating them.
Katiya Station House Officer Om Prakash Chauhan stated that a formal complaint has yet to be filed.
“The suspects are in custody and are undergoing questioning. Further actions are being taken. We will ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice, and the case will be resolved promptly,” he affirmed.
