New Delhi, July 19 (NationPress) Nearly 95.92 per cent of electors have been accounted for under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar, as reported by an official from the Election Commission of India on Saturday.
With a remaining six days to complete the Enumeration Forms (EFs), the ECI is diligently working to ensure that the outstanding 32 lakh electors are included in the draft electoral roll, the official noted.
According to the report, EFs covering 7.15 crore or 90.64 per cent of the total 7.89 crore electors in Bihar have already been submitted.
However, 41.64 lakh or 5.27 per cent of electors could not be located at their registered addresses by either Booth Level Officers or political party agents, the ECI stated.
Among those untraceable, 14.29 lakh or 1.81 per cent are likely deceased, while 19.74 lakh or 2.5 per cent may have relocated permanently, according to the statement.
During the SIR process, 7.5 lakh or 0.95 per cent of electors were identified as being registered at multiple locations, the report added.
Additionally, 11,000 electors remain untraceable, as per the statement.
“The Election Commission is reaching out to those electors from Bihar who have temporarily relocated to other regions of the country through nationwide newspaper advertisements and various communication channels. Special camps have also been established across all 5,683 wards of the 261 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Bihar to facilitate urban elector enrollment,” the ECI said.
As part of the SIR, Booth Level Officers have successfully completed over three rounds of house-to-house visits to connect with electors.
A dedicated effort is underway, involving another round of visits by the BLOs, to ensure contact is established with the remaining electors, the ECI reported.
The election officials are uniting in a mission-driven approach to guarantee no eligible elector is omitted from the draft Electoral Roll scheduled for publication on August 1, 2025, according to the ECI.
The poll panel emphasized that in accordance with the SIR order dated June 24, any errors in the draft Electoral Roll to be released on August 1, 2025, can be rectified by August 30, 2025.
Claims and objections can be submitted by any elector, political party, or appointed Booth Level Agent, the ECI clarified.
