New Delhi, June 2 (NationPress) Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday highlighted the government's unwavering dedication to cultivating a 'Viksit Bharat', asserting that true national growth is rooted in agricultural success and the well-being of farmers.
Chouhan is currently in Motihari, Bihar, to engage in discussions aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and improving the livelihoods of farmers in the area.
While outlining Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, Chouhan remarked, “The Prime Minister is dedicated to realizing a Viksit Bharat. For this goal, prosperous farmers and thriving agriculture are crucial; this is the guiding principle for the Agriculture Department. Nationwide, 16,000 agricultural scientists are directly collaborating with farmers. These scientists, alongside the state and central agriculture departments and agricultural universities, are striving to discover methods to boost production, minimize input costs, guarantee fair prices for farmers, and provide compensation in the event of losses.”
“I have come to Bihar to aid and uplift the farmers here and promote agricultural productivity,” he added.
During his visit, Chouhan emphasized that Bihar possesses immense potential for agricultural advancement, and efforts are underway to ensure that farmers in the region benefit from scientific innovations, government programs, and institutional partnerships.
He indicated that the government is actively endorsing agricultural diversification, natural farming practices, and targeted initiatives like the Pulses Mission and Oilseeds Mission, all intended to make Indian agriculture more resilient, sustainable, and profitable.
Referring to the ongoing initiatives under the government’s “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan,” Chouhan stated, “Ek Rashtra, Ek Krishi, Ek Team (One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team)” is the motto propelling these initiatives. He underscored the necessity of integrating the efforts of central and state governments, agricultural scientists, and universities to develop long-lasting solutions for India’s agricultural challenges.
