Patna, June 2 (NationPress) The President of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Bihar Minister Santosh Suman has taken a strong political stance against the Rashtriya Janata Dal-Congress alliance, asserting that their ongoing disregard for Dalits, backward, and extremely backward communities will inevitably lead to their decline in the state.
He highlighted that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's forthcoming visit to Bihar on June 6, marking his fifth visit in just five months, indicates the increasing unease within the Grand Alliance due to their dwindling support among marginalized communities.
Minister Suman criticized the RJD-Congress for only acknowledging the needs of Dalits and backward communities during election periods.
He pointed out the lengthy 23-year delay in organizing panchayat elections in Bihar under RJD-Congress governance and the lack of reservation for Extremely Backward Classes, even during elections held in 2001.
"Thousands of extremely backward individuals were denied the opportunity to become public representatives because of this," he claimed.
Targeting the Congress further, Minister Suman accused the party of undermining the rights of backward communities, despite its claims to support them.
He referenced a controversial remark allegedly made by Rahul Gandhi during a visit to the US, implying that a future Congress administration could dismantle the current reservation system.
Additionally, he charged the Congress with reallocating reservations designated for Dalits and Other Backward Classes to religious minorities, a move that he argued undermines constitutional provisions and social justice.
Minister Suman urged voters from Dalit, backward, and extremely backward communities to remain alert and not be swayed by the false promises of parties with a track record of neglecting them.
"The people of Bihar have not forgotten the era of terror, fear, and humiliation during RJD-Congress rule. Now is the time for them to decisively reject this alliance," he stated.
In contrast to Minister Suman's current position, leaders of the Grand Alliance, including Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, have supported a caste-based census in the nation.
Under the Grand Alliance government, a caste-based survey was conducted in Bihar, leading to an increase in reservations to 65% based on the survey's findings.
RJD leader and Opposition Leader Tejashwi Yadav specifically called for the Centre to incorporate the 65% reservation into the ninth schedule of the Constitution.
