Patna, May 21 (NationPress) Tara Devi’s remarkable transformation from a state of severe deprivation to a thriving self-sustaining family is a powerful illustration of what a woman's grit and determination can achieve when paired with persistence and resilience.
A resident of Jamui district in Bihar, Tara Devi faced the tragic loss of her husband at a young age. However, instead of succumbing to despair, she was motivated to confront life's challenges head-on and ultimately succeeded in changing the course of her family’s future.
After losing her husband, Mukesh Singh, in a road accident in 2022, Tara took out a loan through the Jeevika Yojana to launch her own business.
Today, she independently supports her family and has become a beacon of hope for her village – Bhajor.
With a loan of ₹30,000 from the Jeevika Yojana, she established Poshan Vatika and an NPM (Non-Pesticide Management) shop.
Now, Tara earns around ₹600 daily by selling goods worth ₹4,000, enabling her to continue her three daughters' education.
Her eldest daughter is enrolled in Intermediate studies and aspires to pursue the GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) course, following her late father’s footsteps as a compounder.
The second daughter is in 9th grade and dreams of becoming a teacher, while the youngest is currently in 4th grade.
Tara Devi's journey inspires women everywhere who yearn for self-reliance amidst adversity.
In an interview with IANS, she expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for initiating such public welfare programs.
Importantly, Jeevika is a community-driven organization in Bihar, comprising approximately 10 lakh women in self-help groups, uniting around 1.24 crore women for the Swachhata Hi Seva initiative in Bihar. This collaborative effort to promote awareness and engage in mass cleanliness activities embodies the true essence of Nari Shakti.
