Jaipur, July 24 (NationPress) Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has expressed immense satisfaction over the Bisalpur Dam achieving its full capacity, deeming it a joyous occasion for the state.
For the first time in July, a gate of the Bisalpur Dam has been opened due to significant rainfall in the catchment area, he noted.
At the same time, the Navnera Dam (Etawah, Kota), an essential part of the Ram Jal Setu Link Project, has also reached its maximum level, resulting in the opening of three of its gates.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state government’s dedication to providing sufficient water supply throughout Rajasthan.
He assured that water availability for agriculture, livestock, and household needs is being supported through various initiatives, including the Ram Jal Setu Link Project, Yamuna Water Agreement, Dewas Project, Indira Gandhi Canal, and Ganga Canal.
This year’s favorable monsoon has facilitated a consistent and uninterrupted water supply across regions.
“July 24, 2025, marks a historic milestone for Rajasthan. The Bisalpur Dam reached a water level of 315.50 RL meters, leading to the opening of Gate No. 10 by one meter, which released approximately 6,000 cusecs of water,” he stated.
This is the first instance in the dam's history where it has attained full capacity in July.
“Remarkably, this is also the second consecutive year (2024–2025) that the dam has filled completely. The Bisalpur Dam serves as a critical source of drinking water for nearly one crore people in Jaipur, Ajmer, and Tonk districts,” he added.
Simultaneously, the Navnera Dam has also reached its full level recently. With the water level at 214 RL meters, Gates No. 11, 12, and 13 were opened, releasing around 600 cusecs of water.
This water release is anticipated to enhance groundwater levels and recharge wells in regions surrounding the Kalisindh River. The dam boasts a total storage capacity of 226.65 million cubic meters, with current storage at 159.87 million cubic meters.
This coordinated management of Rajasthan’s water resources reflects the government’s effective planning and the fortuitous blessings of a favorable monsoon season.
