Mysuru (Karnataka), July 19 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah issued a bold challenge to the BJP and JD-S, asserting that the developmental achievements of his administration serve as the most effective counter to their misleading narratives. He stated, “The BJP has no shame after imitating our electoral promises in Bihar to secure victories in the forthcoming Assembly elections.”
“We have brought the government directly to the people. I encourage the BJP and JD-S to engage in an open debate on this matter,” the Chief Minister expressed.
This statement came during the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony for various developmental initiatives amounting to Rs 2,578 crore as part of the state government’s two-year performance outreach initiative named 'Saadhana Samavesha'.
The event was characterized as a display of strength by CM Siddaramaiah.
“Let the leaders of BJP and JD-S, who have been deceiving the public with a myriad of untruths, unite on a common platform. I am ready to discuss our government’s development initiatives — I will also be part of this debate,” he challenged the BJP and JD-S.
“The BJP has no shame in replicating our guarantees in Bihar to win elections,” the Chief Minister criticized both parties.
He condemned the BJP for spreading false information regarding the state government lacking funds for development.
“The inauguration of Rs 2,578 crore worth of developmental projects today is our response. BJP and JD-S should not be so envious; their intolerance towards our developmental accomplishments is palpable.”
He further pointed out that the BJP has never achieved power in Karnataka through its own merit.
“Each time, they have come to power through backdoor tactics like 'Operation Kamala'. Similarly, JD-S leader Kumaraswamy has never successfully formed a government independently. Those who have failed to earn the affection, faith, and support of the populace lack the moral authority to criticize our administration,” Siddaramaiah added.
“The BJP and JD-S do not represent the interests of the state or its citizens. Each year, the state contributes a substantial amount in taxes to the Centre, yet receives only a small fraction in return. Leaders like Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai lack the courage to confront Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this injustice. Their silence is a betrayal of the people of Karnataka.”
He reiterated that alongside the implementation of the five guarantee schemes, the state government has allocated vast sums for the state’s development.
“Our developmental initiatives are not exclusive to Congress supporters; they benefit voters from BJP and JD-S as well, every day and every month. Just recently, I personally handed over a free ticket to the 500th woman beneficiary under the Shakti scheme. This demonstrates our government’s dedication,” he highlighted.
Siddaramaiah underscored Congress’s long-standing commitment to social justice.
“From the era of late Jawaharlal Nehru through Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and Manmohan Singh, it has been the Congress government that has executed social justice programs. The entire nation is aware of this and will not forget.”
“The Food Security Act, Right to Education Act, and MGNREGA were all initiated during the Congress tenure. Let the BJP showcase what it has accomplished during its governance,” the Chief Minister stated.
He accused the BJP of opposing social justice and the advancement of marginalized communities.
“The Manuvadis are against the Constitution and the development of marginalized groups. This is why they (BJP) target us (Congress).”
“The BJP is plotting to alter the Constitution. However, the citizens of this nation, along with Congress, will thwart the BJP and the Manuvadi conspirators,” Siddaramaiah asserted.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, addressing the audience, remarked, “In last year’s by-elections across three constituencies, Congress emerged victorious. We defeated the sons of two former Chief Ministers. This sends a powerful message to voters and has reinforced our internal strength.”
“In the 2028 state Assembly elections, we seek your blessings to secure victory in more constituencies and restore Congress to power in the state, so we can continue to serve you. Under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and the guidance of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, I and all Ministers will collaborate in unity to repay our debt to the people,” Shivakumar added.
“The developmental schemes of the Congress government are clear to the public. The BJP, which once ridiculed our guarantee schemes, is now imitating them in other states. Criticism from opposition parties will dissipate, but our achievements will endure,” he stated.
“Our guarantee schemes have become a national model. These very initiatives were disparaged as fabrications leading to bankruptcy by everyone — from the Prime Minister to BJP leaders in the state. However, during elections held in states like Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Haryana, they announced similar guarantee schemes even before Congress did. Recently, in Bihar too, they have mimicked our guarantee schemes,” he concluded.
