Chennai, June 19 (NationPress) Leaders from the Tamil Nadu BJP have vehemently criticized the governing DMK administration after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) revealed the arrest of four additional individuals linked to a radicalisation and recruitment case associated with ISIS, concentrated around an Arabic college in Coimbatore. State BJP President Nainar Nagenthran expressed grave concern regarding this alarming development via a social media post. He remarked, “It is shocking that a place masquerading as an Arabic college was being used to recruit youth into ISIS.”

Nagenthran accused the DMK regime of attempting to conceal the truth about the 2022 Coimbatore temple blast, which was initially dismissed as a mere cylinder explosion.

“Despite the government’s efforts to downplay the incident, the NIA has uncovered a deeper terror network, arresting a total of eight individuals so far. Coimbatore, which was once a center for industry and education, is now transforming into a breeding ground for terrorism,” Nagenthran claimed.

The state BJP chief further highlighted a trend of increasing lawlessness, referencing recent events such as the desecration of temple idols and assaults on elderly citizens, which he attributed to a deteriorating law and order situation in the area.

“The so-called Dravidian model has turned Coimbatore into a threat zone,” Nagenthran asserted, demanding a comprehensive response from Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s government.

In agreement with these sentiments, senior BJP leader and former state president K. Annamalai condemned what he termed a “dangerous culture of denial” within the DMK leadership.

“They labeled it ‘just a cylinder blast.’ Now, it’s been revealed as an ISIS-linked radicalisation network operating right under their noses,” Annamalai stated.

He continued by noting that the recent arrests of four more suspects brings the total to eight, all allegedly involved in the 2022 suicide bombing in Coimbatore.

“When appeasement takes precedence over accountability, national security suffers,” he cautioned, adding, “Tamil Nadu deserves better.”

The BJP’s statements come as NIA investigations in Tamil Nadu intensify, particularly in Coimbatore, where officials indicate that terror groups are utilizing religious institutions as a facade for radicalisation and recruitment activities.

Point of View

It is crucial to approach the discourse with a balanced perspective. The BJP's allegations against the DMK government reflect deep-seated concerns about national security in the region. While political narratives can often skew the truth, the focus should remain on ensuring public safety and addressing the root causes of radicalisation.
