BJP Tamil Nadu to Convene with Amit Shah on December 27 in Preparation for 2026 Assembly Elections

Chennai, Dec 25 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu faction of the BJP is set to conduct a private meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Chennai on December 27, as the party gears up for the 2026 Assembly elections.

Following a disappointing performance in the 2024 general elections, where the BJP did not secure any seats, the party is keen to develop a future strategy.

Amit Shah is anticipated to gather insights from senior party leaders concerning possible alliances for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Presently, the BJP holds four MLAs in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, primarily due to its previous coalition with the AIADMK.

During his visit, Amit Shah is also likely to participate in the first death anniversary of DMDK founder and Tamil film legend Captain Vijayakanth on December 28.

Shah's presence at this event has generated considerable interest within political spheres, as it could lead to significant implications for the BJP's alliances in the region.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the DMDK, allied with the AIADMK, narrowly lost the Virudhunagar seat to Congress leader Manickam Tagore by a mere 4,379 votes.

Political analysts argue that if the BJP had joined the AIADMK-led alliance, the coalition might have won several crucial seats in Tamil Nadu.

As per BJP sources, Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Chennai on the evening of December 27.

He will engage in a private meeting with senior BJP leaders to deliberate on the current political landscape, organizational elections, and strategies for the 2026 Assembly polls.

On December 28, Home Minister Shah will head to Tiruvannamalai, a town famous for its spiritual significance, to inaugurate the newly built BJP district headquarters.

This initiative is viewed as part of the BJP's efforts to reinforce its presence in the area.

Subsequently, the Union Home Minister will visit the Arunachaleswarar Temple, accompanied by senior party officials.

After his engagements in Tiruvannamalai, Home Minister Shah will return to Chennai before departing for New Delhi, wrapping up his visit.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Congress unit has declared plans for black flag protests against Amit Shah's visit, stemming from his contentious comments about B.R. Ambedkar.

State Congress President K. Selvaperunthagai announced on his official X account that he would lead the demonstrations, urging all who value democracy and the Indian Constitution to come together in protest.

In his post, Selvaperunthagai stated, "Let all of us who believe in democracy and the Indian Constitution unite."
