During his participation in the Boita Bandana Utsav 2025 at Paradip Port, Majhi emphasized Odisha’s esteemed maritime trading past, the state's economic growth, and development based around its ports. “Both Boita Bandana and Bali Jatra symbolize Odisha’s illustrious maritime trade legacy and the adventurous spirit of the Sadhabas, inspiring the people of Odisha today to pursue new heights with patience and resolve,” stated CM Majhi in his speech.
He underscored the essential role of Paradip Port in Odisha's evolution, noting it has become one of India's largest and most pivotal ports.
CM Majhi elaborated that in 2015, the port managed 71 million tonnes of cargo, a figure that has risen to 150 million tonnes in 2025. “Paradip Port is the key to modern Odisha’s advancement and the Konark of its economy,” he added.
Further, he revealed plans under the “Maritime India Vision 2030” to boost its capacity to 300 million tonnes annually, with aspirations to develop it into a mega port capable of handling 500 million tonnes as part of the “Viksit Bharat 2047” initiative.
Moreover, the Chief Minister announced that the Government of Odisha and Paradip Port Authority are collaborating on establishing a major port at Bahuda in Ganjam district, with an investment of Rs 21,500 crore. A shipbuilding and repair yard will also be developed at the mouth of the Mahanadi River with an investment of Rs 24,700 crore.
Additionally, a world-class cruise terminal will be constructed in Puri.
He expressed optimism that these initiatives will unlock new opportunities in commerce, tourism, and industry across Odisha.
CM Majhi mentioned that Odisha is advancing a port-centric economy aligned with the Government of India’s initiatives such as “Sagarmala, Gati Shakti, and National Logistics Policy.”
