Hyderabad, Dec 7 (NationPress) The Working President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K. T. Rama Rao, has urged party members to commemorate December 9 as 'Vijay Diwas', a date that signifies a pivotal moment in the journey towards the formation of Telangana.
In a teleconference with prominent leaders, MLAs, MLCs, and district heads, he instructed them to organize celebrations in each constituency's center.
KTR, as he is widely known, highlighted that it was on December 9, 2009, that the central government initiated the process for establishing Telangana state, following the fast-unto-death led by BRS founder and president K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).
He encouraged party workers to ensure 'Vijay Diwas' is celebrated with the same enthusiasm as 'Deeksha Diwas' on November 29.
On November 29, KCR began his hunger strike advocating for statehood for the Telangana region of united Andhra Pradesh.
KTR emphasized that the long-standing aspiration for Telangana was realized on December 9 due to KCR's hunger strike. To honor this significant historical event and the sacrifices made by KCR for Telangana, he proposed that the party organize activities in all constituencies.
The BRS working president noted that due to the ongoing local body elections, celebrations should be limited to constituency centers rather than villages.
He directed party workers to conduct a milk bath ceremony for the statues of 'Telangana Thalli' at constituency centers.
Additionally, they were instructed to garland the statues of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and pay their respects.
BRS members were encouraged to distribute fruits to patients in government hospitals. Pink balloons will be released as a symbol of victory at party offices or prominent intersections.
KTR also requested that a media conference be held to remind the public and future generations of KCR's indefinite hunger strike, the Telangana struggle, and the sacrifices made by students.
At Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), where KCR undertook his indefinite fast, and at Gandhi Hospital, fruit distribution initiatives will take place under the leadership of former minister T. Srinivas Yadav.
KTR urged the city's party leaders to actively participate in these events.
