Hyderabad, Oct 15 (NationPress) The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has expressed its backing for the Telangana bandh organized by Backward Classes groups on Saturday, aiming for a 42 per cent reservation.

On Wednesday, leaders from various BC organizations, including BJP MP R. Krishnaiah, engaged with BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao to garner support for the statewide protest.

Prominent BRS leaders also took part in the discussions, which focused on the pressing issues surrounding BC welfare and reservation.

During the meeting, KTR reaffirmed the party's steadfast dedication to the BC cause and criticized the Congress government for its lack of genuine commitment.

"Chief Minister Revanth Reddy shows no authentic concern for the BC community. The Congress made grand promises regarding BC welfare, including a Rs 1 lakh crore budget and a BC sub-plan, but none have come to fruition," he remarked.

He added that under Revanth Reddy's governance, BC reservations are unlikely to be realized.

"As long as he remains in power, BC communities will continue to face betrayal. The BRS will persist in questioning and advocating until every commitment to BCs is honored," he declared.

KTR emphasized that the 42 per cent reservation introduced by the Congress is limited to local body elections, and similar representation should apply to education, employment, and all other areas. "If implemented across the board, lakhs of BC youth will gain from this. BC associations must persist in demanding their rightful share in all sectors, from government jobs to contracts," he insisted.

The BRS working president condemned the Congress for its inconsistent stance and political deceit. "On BC reservations, the Congress speaks with multiple voices—through constitutional amendments, party declarations, ordinances, bills, and now claiming it will only happen if Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister. This illustrates their utter dishonesty," KTR stated.

He reminded attendees that the BRS has consistently supported the BC cause in both the Assembly and Parliament. "Our party has passed resolutions twice in the Telangana Assembly advocating for increased BC reservations, but we never sought to flaunt it," he mentioned.

Drawing comparisons to the struggle for Telangana statehood, KTR urged a united effort for BC rights. "Just as we fought for and achieved Telangana, let's take this battle to Delhi and advocate until BC reservations are realized," he said, confirming that the BRS will fully support the BC organizations' bandh on October 18.

KTR also urged national parties to take decisive action. "If Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi could unite, the BC reservation issue could be settled in minutes. Both the INDIA bloc and the NDA could collaboratively pass the BC Reservation Bill in Parliament. If the BJP brings it to the Prime Minister, we will stand with them and vote in favor," he promised.
