Bhopal, April 4 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav conveyed his sorrow regarding a devastating incident in Anuppur district, where a four-story building collapsed, resulting in one fatality on Saturday evening.
In his response, the Chief Minister took to his social media platform (X), announcing that he has instructed Minister-in-Charge Dilip Ahirwar along with other officials to promptly reach the location and provide necessary relief and medical assistance to those affected.
“The collapse of a hotel building located in the Kotma Municipal area of Anuppur district is a tragic event. The loss of a life is profoundly sorrowful,” he shared on X.
He noted that rescue efforts were ongoing (as of 1:30 pm) involving local administration, police, and teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
“Three individuals have been successfully rescued and evacuated. A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is already en route to the site. I have given clear instructions. I pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul and that the bereaved family finds the strength to endure this immense sorrow. I also hope for the swift recovery of the injured,” he expressed on X.
The four-story structure of an old lodge (hotel) collapsed in Kotma town on Saturday evening, occurring between 5:30 and 6 pm. At least six individuals are believed to be trapped beneath the rubble.
Initial reports from official sources indicate that at the time of the incident, the area was populated with bus stand passengers as well as construction workers from a neighboring site.
Anuppur’s Superintendent of Police, Moti ur Rehman, mentioned that ongoing construction in a decade-old building could have contributed to the collapse.
He revealed that expert rescue teams from the South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) facility in Jamuna Kotma, along with personnel from JMS, a coal mining company, have joined the rescue operations.
