Agartala, Dec 2 (NationPress) Chief Minister Manik Saha of Tripura announced on Tuesday that the BJP-led government is moving forward with plans to establish a homeopathic medical college and an Ayurvedic medical college. The Union Ministry of AYUSH has allocated Rs 140 crore to facilitate the establishment of these institutions.

A comprehensive meeting was conducted at the Civil Secretariat, chaired by Chief Minister Saha, to discuss the detailed plans for setting up the two colleges.

During the meeting, CM Saha, who also oversees the Health and Family Welfare Portfolio, emphasized the importance of gaining insights by visiting established homeopathic and Ayurvedic colleges outside the state to better inform their approach.

The Chief Minister also stressed the necessity of setting a timeline for the establishment of these medical colleges.

He inquired about the current status of students from Tripura studying in homeopathic and Ayurvedic colleges beyond state borders.

CM Saha remarked on the historical trust the citizens had towards homeopathy and Ayurvedic treatments, highlighting the need to restore this faith.

Details regarding the proposed colleges, which will each accommodate 60 students, including their locations, academic schedules, and departmental structures, were presented to the Chief Minister via a slideshow.

The Homeopathic Medical College is planned for Agartala, while the Ayurvedic Medical College will be located in the Gomati district of southern Tripura. The meeting included notable attendees such as Health Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, National AYUSH Mission Member Secretary Saju Wahid A, Sanjay Kumar Das, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department, Finance Secretary Apurba Roy, Director of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Department Anjan Kumar Das, Health Department Joint Director Ashok Dewan, and various other officials from the Health Department.
