New Delhi, May 9 (NationPress) In light of Pakistan's aggressive cross-border maneuvers, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey issued a cryptic message on social media, urging citizens to "await the Indian government's press conference until morning".
His post, written in Hindi, stated: "आज सुबह तक भारत सरकार के प्रेस कॉन्फ़्रेंस का इंतज़ार करिए।"
This announcement came shortly after India successfully countered an attempt by Pakistani military forces to target military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and other regions using missiles and drones.
Following this, reports emerged of India launching retaliatory measures against Islamabad.
Sirens and a series of explosions were noted in Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla, Kupwara, and various other locations as the Indian military maintained a heightened aerial surveillance along the border with Pakistan.
After thwarting the Pakistani offensive, the Defence Ministry reaffirmed India’s commitment to remain "fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens".
These recent provocations from Pakistan occurred less than a day after a similar offensive.
On Thursday afternoon, the Defence Ministry disclosed that Indian armed forces had successfully neutralized Pakistan's attempts to strike military installations across 15 cities in the northern and western regions, utilizing missiles and drones.
In retaliation for the Pahalgam terror incident, Indian forces executed missile and drone strikes targeting nine terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir early on Wednesday.
In response to these strikes, Pakistan pledged to deliver a "befitting reply".
As hostilities between India and Pakistan intensified, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized that no limits would hinder India's resolve to protect its sovereignty, assuring that the nation is fully prepared for such retaliatory actions.
He stated that India has historically acted as a responsible nation, exercising significant restraint and favoring dialogue to resolve disputes.
"However, if anyone seeks to exploit this restraint, they will face serious repercussions," he warned.
"We are fully prepared for responsible responses in the future as well," he added.
Concurrently, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar communicated with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, asserting that India would robustly counter any attempts by Pakistan to escalate tensions.
Jaishankar also engaged in a conversation with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas. After the call with Rubio, he underscored India's targeted and measured approach to combating cross-border terrorism.
