New Delhi, June 15 (NationPress) BJP leader and Vice Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council, Kuljeet Singh Chahal, strongly criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders on Sunday for their reliance on 'abusing and accusing' strategies to gain political advantage.
In response to AAP's allegations regarding the BJP government, including claims about power outages, rising electricity tariffs, waterlogging, insufficient water supply, school fee hikes, and slum demolitions, Chahal stated to IANS, 'The AAP government itself was embroiled in corruption and after their electoral defeat, their leaders are preoccupied with disseminating falsehoods.'
He emphasized that when AAP was in power, they demonstrated a lack of intent to make impactful decisions, while the BJP is dedicated to development.
'The BJP has consistently emphasized development, whether in opposition or in governance,' he reiterated, affirming the commitment to create a 'Viksit Delhi' and fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Viksit Bharat.'
Chahal made these remarks after a site inspection with Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal, focusing on areas near Sarojini Nagar Market, addressing concerns raised by residents of newly-constructed government flats, and examining waterlogging issues in central Delhi.
A coordination committee has been established to assess these matters next week.
Regarding the ongoing discussions on resolving waterlogging, Chahal noted that during their inspection near Dayal Singh College in Lodhi Colony, the Union Minister proposed finding a lasting solution to the current temporary method of pumping water from the NDMC drain into a larger MCD drain near the Commonwealth Games Village.
'During the Congress government's term, a channel was constructed to divert rainwater from the NDMC drain at an elevated level by the MCD, necessitating frequent pumping to avoid waterlogging in central Delhi. The Union Minister suggested that the Ministry should seek a permanent solution to eliminate the need for this pumping operation,' he explained.
Chahal also mentioned that Minister Manohar Lal praised the pole-mounted mist dispensers set up by NDMC in the Jor Bagh area and indicated that this successful model could potentially be adopted in other regions of the country to combat air pollution.
