New Delhi, May 21 (NationPress) BJP leader Rohan Gupta fiercely challenged Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for referring to Operation Sindoor as a "small war," labeling his remarks as a prime example of "childish politics."
Gupta raised concerns over how anyone could question Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on such critical issues.
In an interview with IANS, Rohan Gupta voiced his disappointment: "It is unfortunate when significant Opposition figures make such statements. They question the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister, trivializing Operation Sindoor. This type of politics should be avoided. It’s logical to ask questions, but questioning the valor of the Indian Army is unacceptable. The nation is starting to resent this kind of politics."
The controversy ignited after Kharge made a veiled comment regarding Operation Sindoor during a rally in Karnataka on Tuesday, implying that the government was indulging in “chutput” (small) wars against Pakistan. He also criticized the government's response to the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and one local civilian.
Gupta also addressed former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's criticism of the BJP-led Central government.
Mufti had questioned the effectiveness of Operation Sindoor, suggesting that while innocent lives were lost, the militants involved in the Pahalgam attack remained free.
Gupta stated, "The leaders of the INDI Bloc have their own agendas. They cannot resist playing politics, even when the country's sentiment is clear. They claim to support the army and government, but their true motives are becoming obvious. Their attempts to undermine the nation’s resolve against terrorism for political gain are evident to the people of India. Such politics should be avoided."
Gupta further responded to Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir, who referred to Operation Sindoor as a "minor activity."
Gupta remarked, "Initially, Congress and INDI Bloc leaders claimed they were with the army and government. Now, their desperation is visible. Operation Sindoor is a source of pride for the Indian Army, recognized worldwide. It appears they are echoing the same questions posed by Pakistan. The country will not tolerate this kind of negative politics."
On Tuesday, Congress President Kharge, during the Samarpane Sankalpa rally, stated: "PM Modi was supposed to visit Kashmir on April 17. However, intelligence agencies advised against it due to potential violence. The visit was cancelled quietly. I ask, were you aware of this? If so, why didn’t you inform the public? If people had been warned, 26 innocent lives could have been saved."
Kharge added, "In these 'chhutput yuddha' (small wars), Pakistan has been undermining India at every level, especially with implicit support from China."
