New Delhi, Feb 20 (NationPress) The newly appointed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta wasted no time on her first day in office, assuming her responsibilities shortly after taking her oath on Thursday. She participated in the Yamuna aarti, assigned positions to her six Cabinet members, and presided over her inaugural Cabinet meeting.

During this first Cabinet gathering, the Delhi government approved a 100-day plan, pledged to clean the Yamuna and enhance the riverfront, agreed to present pending CAG reports in the Assembly, and sanctioned the launch of the Central-government funded Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), which provides health coverage to families.

CM Gupta, the sole female head of government among 16 BJP-led states, asserted that Arvind Kejriwal would be held accountable for any financial misconduct by his administration as the Cabinet took steps to unveil corruption from the former AAP government.

Additionally, she announced her decision to forgo moving into the allegedly corrupt official residence known as 'Sheesh Mahal'.

In the Cabinet session, the CM endorsed a proposal to present pending CAG reports in the Assembly, which purportedly detail financial discrepancies of the previous AAP regime.

A resolution for the redevelopment of the Yamuna riverfront—a promise made by PM Modi during campaign rallies—was passed, along with a strategy to initiate the Mahila Samman scheme that aims to provide Rs 2,500 monthly to women.

The first BJP administration in Delhi in 27 years has outlined a 100-day execution plan, with CM Gupta vowing to fulfill 16 commitments during this period with integrity and purpose.

The Cabinet also authorized the initiation of the Central government-funded Ayushman Bharat health insurance program, which was allegedly obstructed by the previous AAP government.

Immediately after her swearing-in, CM Gupta received assurances of collaboration from leaders of the Opposition AAP and Congress, who urged for the prompt disbursement of monthly financial aid of Rs 2,500 for women in the city.

Former Chief Minister and AAP legislator from the Kalkaji seat, Atishi, stated, "I urge the BJP government’s Cabinet to pass the scheme granting monthly stipends to all women in Delhi as promised."

The president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, Devender Yadav, offered his support and good wishes to the newly appointed Chief Minister, expressing hope that she would lead Delhi back to its former glory, reminiscent of the tenure of former Congress Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

He emphasized that as a female Chief Minister, Gupta has a stellar role model in the late Sheila Dikshit, who transformed the National Capital into a clean and green world-class city before it was marred by corruption, mismanagement, and inefficiency for 11 years.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva assured citizens that the new BJP government would deliver on all electoral promises.

The BJP administration is set to operate systematically, aiming to turn Delhi into a well-developed city while ensuring an environmentally sustainable and pollution-free future.
