Did CM Naidu Just Condemn 'Disgraceful' Remarks Against Women?

Amaravati, June 8 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has vehemently criticized the "disgraceful" comments made against women on a television channel affiliated with former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The YSR Congress Party quickly dismissed these accusations as a "malicious" smear campaign orchestrated by the Telugu Desam Party.

During a debate on the channel, a participant named VV Krishnam Raju made derogatory remarks about women from the Amaravati area, referring to the capital city as a "capital of prostitutes." The Chief Minister expressed his outrage over these statements.

"Our culture is one that honors daughters, and we are part of a society that holds the divine feminine in high regard. This is our tradition—the very essence of Indian life. Among Telugu people, daughters and mothers are cherished and respected. Making disgraceful remarks about our mothers and sisters under the guise of political rivalry or media critique is simply unacceptable," he stated.

CM Naidu also expressed his disappointment that despite a clear verdict from the people of Andhra Pradesh against such a "toxic culture" in recent elections, the YSR Congress Party continues to exhibit similar behavior.

"There can be no tolerance for the appalling comments that degrade the women of the capital region by likening them to prostitutes—this is a gross insult to their dignity. I firmly condemn this perverse trend being maintained under the guise of politics and media," CM Naidu remarked.

He criticized former chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for failing to take accountability, saying, "It is even more troubling that a former chief minister, under whose own media channel these offensive statements were aired, has yet to condemn or apologize to the women affected. This silence is deeply concerning."

The Chief Minister assured that those who have crossed the line and hurt the sentiments of women through malicious conspiracies against the capital will face the strictest consequences.

CM Naidu emphasized that the NDA government, which respects women and acts as a guardian of their self-respect, will take full responsibility to eradicate this vile culture.

In response, the YSR Congress Party labeled the claims as unfounded and part of a deliberate campaign by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), its social media operatives, and affiliated "yellow media."

YSRCP leader Pothina Mahesh clarified that the journalist’s comments are not connected to the party.

"The TDP is intentionally trying to discredit YSRCP by magnifying these comments to distract from the overwhelming public reaction to our recent protest against TDP's betrayal tactics," Mahesh asserted.

The YSR Congress Party condemned the TDP's systematic misuse of social media to defame rivals and engage in character assassination.

"The TDP's social media operatives, funded by Nara Lokesh, have launched a vicious campaign targeting women, including YSRCP supporters, with derogatory and inhumane attacks," Mahesh stated.

He questioned the lack of action against TDP leaders like Ayyannapatrudu, Home Minister Anita, Kirak RP, Seema Raja, and Chebrolu Kiran, who have made "egregious" comments against Jagan Mohan Reddy's family and even religious figures like Lord Venkateswara.

"Why have no legal actions been initiated against these individuals?" he asked.
