Guwahati, Sep 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressed on Thursday that the citizens of the state are keenly looking forward to the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week, labeling this event as a “pivotal moment” in Assam’s developmental trajectory.
In response to BJP MLA Mrinal Saikia’s update on X concerning the arrangements in Khumtai for Modi’s public gathering, Sarma commented: “This reflects the enthusiasm of the people in welcoming Adarniya Shri @narendramodi ji on the 13th. The people of Assam are excited to join in a momentous occasion for our State.”
The Prime Minister’s two-day visit, now set for September 13-14 due to the Vice-Presidential election on September 9, will feature a mix of cultural celebrations alongside significant infrastructure announcements.
On September 13, Modi will kick off year-long celebrations for the birth centenary of the cultural icon and Bharat Ratna honoree Bhupen Hazarika in Guwahati.
This gathering is predicted to witness extensive participation from artists, intellectuals, and community members, serving as a significant tribute to Assam’s vibrant cultural heritage.
The following day, September 14, the Prime Minister is slated to visit Mangaldoi in the Darrang district to launch major connectivity and healthcare initiatives.
These projects encompass the anticipated Guwahati Ring Road, a new bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Kuruwa and Narengi, and the foundation stone for the Mangaldoi Medical College and Hospital.
PM Modi will then head to Golaghat district to inaugurate the Numaligarh Refinery Limited’s (NRL) bio-ethanol refinery, which is India’s first bamboo-based 2G bio-refinery, developed at a cost of approximately Rs 4,200 crore.
This facility is expected to benefit over 30,000 rural families by creating new income opportunities through bamboo farming while supporting India’s clean energy ambitions.
Local leaders, including MLAs, have commenced organizing transportation and logistics to facilitate smooth participation in the rallies.
BJP members assert that this visit will underscore both the Centre’s dedication to Assam’s cultural pride and its efforts in infrastructure development and green energy.
