Chennai, Oct 21 (NationPress) The anticipated visit of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to the Tenkasi district has been delayed due to severe rainfall caused by the Northeast Monsoon affecting multiple regions in Tamil Nadu, as announced by Minister Sattur Ramachandran on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister was originally set to visit Tenkasi on October 24 and 25 to inaugurate a variety of completed government projects and lay the groundwork for new developmental initiatives. Preparations were in full swing at the event venue, situated near a private petrol station on the Aayikudi–Lathur bypass road.
This location was specifically chosen to host the main public gathering, with extensive cleaning and pavilion construction already in progress.
Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management Sattur Ramachandran personally reviewed the site earlier this week, accompanied by senior officials including District Collector Kamal Kishore, Superintendent of Police Aravind, Tenkasi South DMK incharge Jayapalan, North District Secretary and MLA Raja, Nellai West DMK incharge Avudayappan, and MP Rani Srikumar.
Insiders indicate that the Chief Minister was expected to unveil various welfare and infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and promoting rural development.
CM Stalin’s two-day itinerary also included review meetings with district officials and interactions with local representatives.
However, due to continuous heavy rainfall in Chennai and other areas of the state, the schedule has been postponed.
“The Chief Minister’s visit to Tenkasi has been postponed due to widespread rainfall resulting from the Northeast Monsoon,” Minister Sattur Ramachandran confirmed to reporters.
The minister stated that new dates for the visit will be announced once the weather improves.
In the meantime, government departments have been instructed to focus on flood prevention measures and ensure public safety in rain-affected districts.
This postponement occurs as Tamil Nadu continues to face intense monsoon activity, with the Meteorological Department issuing Red and Orange alerts in several southern and coastal districts, including Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, and Thoothukudi, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours.
