What Was Announced

The centrepiece of the event was the bhoomipoojan (groundbreaking) of an Ayurvedic college and hospital to be constructed at a cost of ₹70 crore in Shujalpur. Alongside this, Dr. Yadav formally inaugurated the completed construction of four Sandeepani Vidyalayas — Maa Sharda Sandeepani Vidyalaya, Shujalpur; Maharana Pratap Sandeepani Vidyalaya, Akodia; Mihir Bhoj Sandeepani Vidyalaya, Sundarsi; and Raja Bhoj Sandeepani Vidyalaya, Pochaner — built at a combined cost of ₹121.60 crore.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Jethra Jod to Kalapeepal road, constructed at a cost of ₹16.88 crore. In total, groundbreakings and inaugurations covering 36 development works worth ₹179.12 crore were carried out during the single visit, described by the Chief Minister's Office as a collective gift to the residents of the region.

Context

The new Ayurvedic college and hospital is part of the state government's expansion of AYUSH infrastructure, aligned with the National AYUSH Mission launched in 2014, which has encouraged states to establish traditional medicine colleges and upgrade existing facilities. Madhya Pradesh has been among the states actively adding Ayurvedic institutions in smaller districts to extend healthcare access beyond urban centres.

The four Sandeepani Vidyalayas are named after historically significant figures — Maa Sharda, Maharana Pratap, Mihir Bhoj, and Raja Bhoj — a pattern the state government has adopted in branding new public schools with cultural and historical identities. The Madhya Pradesh state budget 2024-25 had placed explicit emphasis on rural school construction and district-level road connectivity upgrades.

Stakeholders and Impact

Students in and around Shajapur district stand to benefit directly from the four new Sandeepani schools, which are expected to expand enrolment capacity in semi-urban and rural pockets of the district. The Ayurvedic college will also open pathways for medical education in traditional medicine for students from the region, while the hospital component will extend AYUSH-based healthcare to local patients.

During the programme, Dr. Yadav felicitated students who secured merit positions with certificates of appreciation and distributed benefits to beneficiaries of various government welfare schemes. He also reviewed an exhibition showcasing Ayurvedic products and works undertaken under the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, the state's water conservation campaign, reflecting the multi-sector nature of the event.

The construction of the ₹70 crore Ayurvedic college and hospital in Shujalpur now enters its execution phase, with timelines and staffing plans expected to be firmed up by the state's AYUSH and higher education departments.
