New Delhi, May 18 (NationPress) The Congress party has announced that four prominent MPs from their ranks, included at the request of the Central government, will accompany delegations traveling internationally to articulate India’s position regarding terrorism originating from Pakistan.

The all-party delegation is set to engage with key global capitals, with the responsibility of informing foreign governments about India’s stance on cross-border terrorism. This initiative, named Operation Sindoor, reflects the nation’s united front against terrorism, as stated by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.

Congress has voiced its dissatisfaction over the government's decision to not accept its proposed list of four MPs.

In a statement, party spokesperson Jairam Ramesh mentioned that on the morning of May 16th, the Modi administration requested four names from the Congress party to represent the INC in the delegations sent abroad to clarify India’s stance on terrorism from Pakistan. These names were submitted in writing by the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha to the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs by noon that same day.

“Late on the night of May 17th, the complete list of delegation members was officially released. Unfortunately, only one of the four names suggested by the INC leadership was included,” he stated.

The party has accused the Central government of lacking sincerity. “This underscores the total insincerity of the Modi Government and highlights the trivial political maneuvers it consistently engages in regarding serious national matters,” Ramesh added.

Nonetheless, the four Congress MPs/leaders, included at the request of the Modi government, will participate in the delegations and contribute their perspectives.

In their statement, Congress criticized the BJP for engaging in partisan politics, asserting, “The INC will not lower itself to the deplorable level of the Prime Minister and the BJP. We will always uphold the highest standards of Parliamentary democracy and refrain from playing partisan politics on national security, unlike the BJP.”

The party extended its best wishes to the delegations, emphasizing that these efforts should not distract from the INC's demands for all-party meetings chaired by the Prime Minister and a special session of Parliament to reaffirm the resolution passed on February 22, 1994, while also considering subsequent developments.

Point of View

It’s crucial to recognize the significance of bipartisan cooperation in addressing national security issues. While Congress's concerns regarding their representation in international delegations are valid, the focus must remain on presenting a unified front against terrorism. The nation's safety transcends political affiliations, and it is imperative that all parties prioritize the collective good over partisan interests.
