New Delhi, July 31 (NationPress) Just hours after a special court of the NIA declared all seven defendants, including former BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, not guilty in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, her relatives expressed profound relief and hailed the ruling as a triumph of truth and Sanatan Dharma.
In an interview with IANS from Surat, her brother-in-law Bhagwan Jha remarked, “After enduring a prolonged struggle, the joy of victory is unparalleled. Today marks a historic moment not just for my family but for the entire Hindu community. The Congress-led government back then sought to label Hindus and the saffron identity as terrorists, but this verdict has shattered that narrative.”
Jha went on to accuse prominent Congress figures like Digvijay Singh, P. Chidambaram, Sushil Kumar Shinde, and Sharad Pawar of trying to tarnish the image of the Hindu community. “These individuals have consistently acted against the interests of Hindus. The court has made it clear that the allegations were unfounded. Society is now aware of their true character,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sadhvi Pragya’s sister Pratibha Jha became emotional recalling the family’s 17-year struggle. “The experiences we faced during these years are indescribable. My parents, who supported us through those dark times, are no longer with us. We suffered losses across financial, social, and emotional spectrums,” she shared.
She emphasized that the previously propagated narrative of ‘Bhagwa terror’ by the UPA government has been thoroughly discredited. “This ruling serves as a slap in the face for those who attempted to conflate saffron with terror. Even medical professionals were coerced to deny treatment to Sadhvi ji. But ultimately, truth has prevailed.”
Describing the judgment as a validation of Sanatan Dharma, both family members urged the nation to reject those who have defamed Hindus for political gain.
The seven accused in the trial included Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, former BJP MP from Bhopal; Lt Col Prasad Shrikant Purohit, an active officer in Military Intelligence; Major (Retd) Ramesh Upadhyay; Ajay Rahirkar; Sudhakar Dwivedi; Sudhakar Chaturvedi; and Sameer Kulkarni.
