New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) The Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta, declared on Thursday that the upcoming Monsoon Session in July will be entirely conducted in a paperless format.
Implementing a paperless legislative process will be achievable through advanced software and mobile applications developed under the National e-Vidhan Application (NEVA) initiative, Gupta stated at the end of his three-day study tour in Bhubaneswar.
The Delhi delegation visited the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Thursday to observe the software, devices, and applications being created as part of the NEVA project.
During their visit, they engaged with Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surama Padhi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi, exchanging comprehensive insights regarding the NEVA project's execution.
“Odisha is the most recent state to join the NEVA framework, and the technology utilized here is both state-of-the-art and efficient,” Gupta remarked.
“Odisha has drawn lessons from the experiences of other states and has established an impressive model. We aim to closely examine their methods and further refine and customize them for Delhi,” he added.
The Delhi team explored several NEVA components such as applications, dashboards, and operational centers, gaining a firsthand insight into how technology can improve legislative transparency and streamline operations.
The delegation also visited service centers to witness how digital tools are enabling smooth legislative activities.
Speaker Gupta mentioned that the Delhi Assembly plans to incorporate aspects of Odisha’s NEVA framework and intends to invite Odisha’s technical specialists to share their expertise.
“Our aspiration is to establish the Delhi Legislative Assembly as a pioneer in technological innovation, serving as a benchmark for other states,” he stated.
Reiterating his endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘One Nation, One Application’ initiative, Gupta emphasized: “The Delhi Assembly is dedicated to taking a leading role in this digital evolution. Transitioning to e-Vidhan will not only improve operational efficiency but also foster environmental sustainability. It will enhance the speed and transparency of legislative processes.”
