New Delhi, Nov 29 (NationPress) The Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, extended a warm welcome to an esteemed international delegation featuring Members of Parliament from various nations, along with former diplomats and experts in defence and strategic affairs.
Gupta informed the visitors, which included representatives from the UK, France, Nepal, Serbia, and Sri Lanka, about the Assembly’s significant history. He emphasized that the building initially functioned as the First Parliament of the Central Legislative Assembly during the pre-independence period.
He elaborated on innovative initiatives such as the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), aimed at creating a fully digital, paperless legislative environment, and detailed the Assembly's successful transformation into a completely solar-powered, green institution, as noted in the statement.
During a guided tour of the historic site and the Assembly House, Gupta underscored that the Assembly operates under the vision of “Virasat Bhi, Vikaas Bhi” (heritage also inspires growth).
As a token of appreciation, the Speaker presented the delegates with a traditional ‘Patka’ and a special souvenir to commemorate their visit to the Delhi Legislative Assembly.
Additionally, Gupta shared the Coffee Table Book titled “Delhi Legislative Assembly presents Shatabdi-Yatra, Veer Vithalbhai Patel,” which honors Vithalbhai Patel, the first Indian elected Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly.
