New Delhi, Nov 29 (NationPress) Originating from a humble middle-class background and pursuing a career in medicine, Dr Shaheen Saeed experienced a shocking and concerning shift in her life when she became entangled in the conspiracy behind the Delhi terror blast following her marriage to fellow Kashmiri physician, Dr Muzammil Shakeel.

As reported by NDTV, investigative sources indicate that Saeed's exposure to extremist factions commenced after her marriage in September 2023, a union that ultimately led her into a realm of radicalization.

Growing up in Daliganj, a densely populated locality in Lucknow, Saeed was celebrated for her academic prowess. She achieved her MBBS from Allahabad and later focused on pharmacology.

Her father, Syed Ahmad, works for the government, and the family has long been respected for their educational background and social standing.

Saeed's initial marriage was to ophthalmologist Dr Zafar Hayat in 2003, with whom she had two children. However, the marriage dissolved in late 2012, reportedly due to professional tensions, career aspirations, and Saeed’s wish to relocate abroad.

This divorce had a profound impact on her, leading her to withdraw from the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College in Kanpur, where she was teaching, abruptly halting her obligations and becoming unreachable for nearly eight years.

Her employment was terminated in 2021, and a subsequent second marriage to a textile entrepreneur from Ghaziabad also ended unsuccessfully.

During this tumultuous phase, Muzammil Shakeel, her junior from Al-Falah University in Faridabad, entered her life. Their relationship strengthened through daily interactions at the university and shared medical careers.

During interrogation, Shakeel disclosed that they were married in September 2023 at a mosque close to Al-Falah University, where he provided a mahr of approximately Rs 6,000. Once they began cohabiting, Saeed became active in student organizations and participated in religious events.

Sources suggest that she was approached by members of Jamaat ul-Mominaat, the women's branch of Jaish-e-Mohammed, during these events. Investigators believe this was the initiation of her indoctrination into radical beliefs.

Leveraging her medical credentials, Saeed allegedly traveled frequently between Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi-NCR, and Haryana, facilitating funds and delivering messages.

She was purportedly appointed as the head of the Indian division of Jamaat ul-Mominaat, which is supervised by Sadia Azhar, sister of JeM founder Masood Azhar, in Pakistan.

According to NDTV, Saeed was tasked with assembling a group of five 'terror doctors,' a team she was reportedly in the process of forming at the time of her arrest.

Her father, Syed Ahmad, expressed profound disbelief regarding the accusations.

"I cannot fathom that my daughter was engaged in such activities," he stated to IANS.

Saeed, along with Muzammil Shakeel and Adeel Ahmed Rather, has been detained in relation to the investigation of the Delhi blast, which resulted in at least 13 fatalities and numerous injuries when a slow-moving Hyundai i20, driven by a suicide bomber identified as Dr Umar Mohammad, also known as Umar un Nabi, detonated near the Red Fort.

Umar, like the others, was a Kashmiri doctor with ties to Al-Falah University.
