New Delhi, Nov 11 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Tuesday the upcoming installation of advanced compactors throughout various locations in Delhi to enhance waste management efficiency. Additionally, a dedicated committee will be established to oversee road construction projects.

In a meeting focused on the city's cleanliness and sanitation status, the Chief Minister indicated that specialized machinery would be utilized for the effective handling of green waste.

She emphasized her administration's commitment to sanitation issues, asserting that the vision of a ‘Developed Delhi’ can only come to fruition in a clean environment.

A special committee will include officials from relevant departments to supervise road infrastructure development.

Attendees of the meeting included Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood, Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma, MCD Commissioner Ashwini Kumar, and representatives from DDA, PWD, DSIIDC, among others.

The Chief Minister criticized the former administration for neglecting cleanliness issues in Delhi.

She highlighted that her government is addressing these challenges with renewed vigor and focus, pointing out that if smaller cities can excel in cleanliness rankings, then Delhi must strive for even greater efficiency.

She confirmed that there are adequate funds available for these initiatives and encouraged officials to present realistic and innovative proposals for sanitation improvements, promising swift execution.

Additionally, she stressed the significance of proper waste disposal facilities to prevent indiscriminate dumping. The Chief Minister ordered the installation of dustbins across the city and the immediate replacement of any damaged ones.

Several key decisions were made during the meeting to expedite efforts in transforming Delhi into a cleaner and more efficient capital. High-capacity compactors will be placed in various districts, with the DDA and DUSIB providing necessary land. Given Delhi's lush greenery, the city produces a considerable amount of green waste.

Modern machinery will be deployed to manage this waste, starting in all Assembly constituencies and eventually extending to individual wards.

Officials have been instructed to conduct daily inspections to monitor cleanliness in their respective areas, fostering a positive atmosphere and encouraging sanitation staff to be vigilant and proactive.

The Chief Minister also pointed out the necessity of setting both short-term and long-term cleanliness goals at all levels. Departments were encouraged to utilize social media to showcase 'before and after' pictures of cleaned areas to boost public awareness and engagement in maintaining cleanliness.

During the meeting, Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood raised concerns over road design and quality, citing persistent road-cutting as a significant issue in Delhi.

He proposed developing a comprehensive policy to tackle this issue and suggested involving architects in the planning stages to ensure efficient road designs.

In response, the Chief Minister instructed the Chief Secretary to form a special committee consisting of officers from road construction departments.

This committee will address road design and ducting before construction begins. The Chief Minister asserted that this collaborative approach will not only mitigate road-cutting but also guarantee durable and high-quality road infrastructure throughout the capital.
